I has bed!

  • Aug. 2nd, 2008 at 2:44 PM

I am now moved into my new place!! I received a great surprise when I got there as well. The previous tenant left his bed for me to use...PERMANENTLY!!! This certainly beats my sleeping on Chris and Tony's air mattress for 2 weeks. And now Brandon doesn't have to haul my old bed down here on top of his truck^_^ There's still a bit of drama with another previous tenant who refuses to return his key, so the locks are being changed tomorrow. Luckily I have the day off tomorrow so I'll be kicking around in order to get a new key. Anywho...I'm off to work...updates later maybe!

Life, work, and matcha...not in that order.

  • Jul. 27th, 2008 at 12:38 AM

I had a staff meeting a few. It was semi-inconvenient if only because it was at 7:30pm and went a bit later than I would have liked. But it was well worth it!! I learned about matcha and how to make it properly from a really funky married couple who distribute it in Vancouver(guy is white hippy sort, wife is japanese cute). Anywho, learned all about the different grades and how they taste is different, made some tea and drank it! Then we learned how to make matcha for a latte. AND I MADE MY MATCHA LATTE PRETTY!

PICTURES!

  • Jul. 13th, 2008 at 8:40 PM

Well, as promised here are some pictures from Vancouver. Most of these are taken around Kitsilano, Granville, and Downtown.  It's actually going to take way too long to upload them to here...so just go check out my facebook(Roxanne Jalbert) and DeviantArt(ElenNaur) pages!!

Wooha!

  • Jul. 12th, 2008 at 8:17 AM

So my SD card is still being wanky and not allowing me to upload any pictures.

On the plus side, Brandon and I got back together! Long distance sucks, but well worth knowing he's not out there kissing any other girls :p hehehe.

Wind, SD, Oasis, and Hair

  • Jul. 10th, 2008 at 1:03 PM

Holy crap! The wind here today is INSANE!! I'm not entirely sure what to expect when I go outside to head to work. Will it be hot like yesterday but with wind? Or freakin' cold? Better yet, what would this bizzar weather call for in regards to clothing? i might have to toe myself out back to find out for sure.

As for those pictures I promised..

My SD card is acting up again. So it might decide to start working after I restart my lappy, which I REALLY don't want to have to do yet again. Either I've missed a lot of updates or companies are just wheeling them out in order to inconvenience my ever so important craigslist lurking. But as for the pictures...in a day or two I hope. Might just post a link to facebook and put them in an album there.

I'm going to an Oasis concert August 27th!!

And some smarmy hairdresser completely screwed me over. He didn't cut my hair the way I had asked him to then I got disgustingly overcharged. So it looks like I'll be stopping by a hair school of some sort while wandering around Robson with Nicole tomorrow. $10.00 haircuts FTW!

The Plan!

  • Jul. 8th, 2008 at 11:02 AM

Today when I go out I am going to bring my camera with me. In fact, I'm going to create a bit of a home for it in my bag. I keep going on and on about how I wish I had brought the damn thing with me, so today it starts! For sure I want to take a few pictures of where I'm working, as well as how f--king pretty everything in Kitsilano is.

The city! OMG! I love it here. It's amazing. It's f--king fantastic!! I've met a few nifty folk that I play board games and such with, and I'm going to teach a few people how to play Dungeons and Dragons(4th edition). I've also found a shopping buddy in Nicole^_^ It's quite amazing how much shopping can be done without spending a whole lot. The only thing down here's that really expensive is housing. Sure there are expensive shops and things, but it's not like they are the only choices.

Anywho, I'm off to get my hair cut, then to work. Perhaps I'll be motivated to post picture later...if I can learn how to do the cut thing. WE SHALL SEE!!

PS
I blame Chris for any profanity. Listening to him flip out at video games has rubbed off on to me.

Big news!

  • May. 14th, 2008 at 6:36 PM

I'm moving to Vancouver. My plane leave on Friday, May 30 @ 3:30pm. Ticket already bought and paid for. Just need to pack. I also got a call from the School of Mix, I start class on June 9th. I'm incredibly nervous...and soo excited! Part of me is still in the state of mind that this is all very surreal.

BTW...does anyone want to buy my scooter??

The Elephant's Ear

  • Jan. 14th, 2008 at 6:18 PM

So I start my job at The Elephant's Ear tonight. It's just till training...but yay! I'm very nervous to actually start though. I've never actually had to train or get used to anything new in the last 7 years. It's crazy that I stayed at the laundromat that long...and I know a lot of people are saying, "Finally!". So far I can make over-steamed milk and very bitter espresso. But I'll get there...just don't request that I prepare you're drink for a while^_^

I can't remember if I already said this...but if all goes well I'll be moving to the U.S. for a while. I'm actually going down there this summer to visit my mom and will be taking most of my stuff down with me. From there I'm going to visit a few friends then fly back to Kelowna for school. Once I'm done there I'm going back down the States, getting a work visa, then flowing with it until I decide what to do next ^_^

In all...I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT LIFE RIGHT NOW! So much in fact I think I'm might be winning!

Resolutions...

  • Jan. 2nd, 2008 at 11:32 AM

With the new year I feel slightly obligated to give myself a few goals. I'm not into the whole New Year Resolutions...but that's the best way I can think of at the moment to term it...

1. Minimize my possessions down to Clothes, Computer, Desk, Bed, Books, and Crafts stuff. Anything sentimental has to be able to fit into my hope chest. If not...it all goes. I move too much to be able to haul all the crap I have around.

2. Make space to be able to take my sewing machine out of storage.

3. Be more social. As many may have noticed I don't get out much, if at all.

4. Finish my Correspondence before my time is up...which is coming TOO quick!

5. Figure out where I'm going to live while in Kelowna, and have some ideas as to where I'll go when I'm done there.

I've already got a rough sketch plan of what I hope for my future. I don't want to have it planned down to the colour of my shoelaces...leaves no room for spontaneous moments.

As for the New Year's party...I had fun^_^ Games, people, dancing, climbing in the stairwell! I'm pretty sure that after 12 I got too drunk and panicked. I'm kicking myself in the ass for that. I was hoping that the rum would be as kind to me as it usually is...but it decided to screw with me. When I get too drunk I tend to get emotional...which I hate. So I try to controle myself...but it doesn't always work....

But I'm hoping to have a bit more fun while people are still in town. Call me for a get together people! 631-3082

Well...it's Christmas! Probably not the best christmas ever...but hardly the worst. For the most part it's been the average day with the exception of not having to go to work. Got a few gifts from family and a wad of cash from my dad. Went and spent some time with my cousin Steven. Played his new Wii. It's quite fun.

As for life...well...Brandon and I broke up about a month ago. This is a good thing...though the circumstances really broke my confidence a little bit. It's a change I'm going to have to adapt to, but I'm glad for it...though I stilly break down every now and then. But we were together for a year. It's not something I can let go of too easily....

Many of you will be thrilled to know that I'm FINALLY getting a new job. Lance, who bought the Artful Cup, offered me a job. And my dad was surprisingly awesome about it.

I was supposed to leave for Princeton in January, but the school I'm going to be attending has decided to move back to Kelowna, so I'll be sticking around until the end of August.

After that I come back to Terrace to do my practicum and case studies. From there it's really up in the air. I can stay, or leave. It's up in the air right now...but I'm leaning towards Edmonton.

I'm a bit of a mess right now though...trying to sort my life out...focus on me...yeah....

Costume!

  • Oct. 9th, 2007 at 7:24 AM

I've decided what my Halloween costume will be this year. In order for it to work I need thick wire that won't morph once it's shaped and long hours on the sewing machine and hand sewing, and lots of socks. Perferably the once that are left once you've lost the other once magically in the drying. Why? Because this year I am the Sock Faery! So far in my mind it is very awesome...I just need to buy some very high wooly socks(because it's gets cold trick or treat'n) for my arms and legs. I've already got all the socks I need, mostly from our lost sock collection here at the laundromat, and also a bunch from my sister and Cheryl(co-worker).  I'm just waiting for Brandon to bring over the table his mom is giving me so that I have a bigger work surface than my little already crowded desk.

Quicky

  • Oct. 4th, 2007 at 7:33 AM

Just a quick few words before I get to work...

1. Living without a room-mate is beautiful^_^
2. If all goes well I'll be going down to Princeton,BC to take classes for 4 months.
3. I can't wait to get out of Terrace!

Sep. 15th, 2007

So I went to Body by Lori yesterday to buy a new punch card and asked for a schedule because they had started offering new classes resulting in time changes for the ones I usually go to. THEY HAVE YOGA! This is very exciting. I keep wanting to do yoga, but I've never been one to do it by myself.  So starting next week I'll be going to Body by Lori 3-4 times a week. Yoga on Tuesdays, Sculpt and Tone is available 4 times a week, and once Cardio Boot Camp starts up again I'll be going to that too. I need to start boosting up my endurance and strength for snowboarding. Last year I spent too much time in pain.

I'm beginning to notice how small Terrace really is now that everyone has left or is leaving. By New Year almost everyone is going to be gone:(  I'm hoping that by next summer I'll be planning to leave Terrace, if only for a year. I think it's time I got out and saw what else there is.  Maybe I'll go live with my mom in Whitecourt, Alberta for a little while. There are plenty of ways I could go...I'd like to take off on a whim...but that doesn't seem likely for the next few months...which take away the possibility of doing it on a whim......

On the bright side, I'm getting a raise^_^  It might not be quite enough to put me above the poverty line, but if I can't get paid enough by new year I'm going to find a job elsewhere. Other than pay, work has improved a lot...aside from a real lack of staff. 2 people quit over at the Drycleaners, and our summer staff at the laundromat are gone. We're managing, and my dad is actually keeping to a relatively positive mood.

Rarr...I just want to leave:(

Crafty little bugger am I ^_^

  • Sep. 6th, 2007 at 3:19 PM

I have hobbies!! I suppose that's the joy of not having cable, or a computer(sold it).

I'm currently working on what I hope will end up being a blanket. I'm using orange and green yarn...and just for effect, I might get a really obnoxious color to put in it as well :p  On top of that I went to fabricland yesterday and bought a few patterns (vest, jacket, and purse/bag). Also, just because it was there, I dug through the leftover bin and found some awesome polyester(plastic/glass)-free denim-like fabrics. They were extreamly difficult to find!!, but well worth it^_^

Within the next hour Brandon's going to come get me so that I can go and buy a sewing machine. I'm torn between a rather nice one at walmart for $200 and a wonderful little Jenome at Northern Vacuum and Sewing for $275. I've considered putting off buying one until I can talk to my uncle Scott about giving me a sweet deal at Northern Vacuum and Sewing...but I really! need something to do at home other than clean and my fingers are sore from obsessive knitting.

Oily Skin Wins!!

  • Aug. 10th, 2007 at 3:19 PM

I got my first class for DaySpa Practitioner in the mail a few days ago. Anatomy and Physiology. I'm really enjoying it! Some of the stuff I'm learning is really interesting. Oily skin when taken care of properly is actually the preferred skin type because it doesn't wrinkle easily. I have oily skin, so when I read this I went to a mirror...my forehead doesn't wrinkle when I raise my eyebrows. The only noticeable wrinkles are the onces from me squinting my eyes a lot and smiling.

The lessons that I've gone over are really sticking. Although I'm given 5 months to complete this course...If all goes well I should be done much sooner. After I finish this course it'll be on to pathology, then business. I've never been so excited about school^_^

Kitten

  • Aug. 1st, 2007 at 4:27 PM

The kitten is now at my sister's house out in Queensway. It is better this way. She's a sweety and will be well taken care of since my sister is home all day.

Ashamed :(

  • Aug. 1st, 2007 at 1:41 AM

I'm ashamed to say that I'm not as prepared for a kitten as I thought I was. The excitement of finally having a cat got the best of me and I didn't fully understand what having a pet would mean. She's cute as can be, but I'm scared to leave her alone, although she's litter trained I still have to check her each time she uses the box because she'll get poop and little stuck to the bottoms of her feet. I spend at least 8-9 hours our of the house during the day and am worried about the time I leaver her alone. It's 1:53 in the morning and I'm stressed to tears. I feel horrible about it, but I'm really hoping the pet store will take her back once I've stated my case. I really need to sleep T_T   Maybe once I'm settled in and and feel that I'm better prepared I will let myself have a pet....but after this experience I don't think that I'm well suited to care for one:(

No more Crying!!!

  • Jun. 26th, 2007 at 4:04 PM

I won't be at my usual "home" for the next month^_^ I'll be "babysitting" my 16 year old cousin while the adults are off and about for a large majority of the summer. This is perfectly fine by me since I'll not have to be kept up at all hours of the night by crying. And I'll be able to have my computer with me! It's been at Brandons for the last month or so because the interenet here at my sister's(I"m on her computer) is cable and crappy.

So yeah, I'll be at a nice, quiet house stocked full of edible food^_^ Plus I'll be given some extra cash to buy any other foods that I feel we'll be needing. I'm also being put in charge of Steven's allowance...I have the power now!!

I've been going to Body by Lori for a couple of weeks now. It hurts sooooo good! This new found energy is quite nice...not to mention a massive appetite for fruit smoothies....and fruit in general.

...that's it.

So here's another Paramore video. This is the song that got me hooked!
